Mrs. Ethel May Smith, 96.

Services for Mrs. Ethel May Smith, 96, of Louisiana, mother of Mrs. Howard Harness of Bowling Green were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Sterne Funeral Chapel in Louisiana. Dr. Earl Wood officiated with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Smith died Jan. 16, 1981 at Louisiana Nursing Home where she had resided for over four years. She was born Oct. 23, 1884 on a farm south of Louisiana to John Nicholas and Julia Barnett Price. She attended schools in Pike County and was graduated from Liberty Ladies College in Liberty. She taught in several rural schools in Pike Co. for three years before her marriage to Arthur Smith. Mrs. Smith preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1953. Mrs. Smith was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church in Louisiana. Survivors are two daughter, Mrs. Freeman (sic) (Virginia) Miller, Louisiana and Mrs. Howard (Mildred) Harness, Bowling Green six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers Earl and Joe Price; and a sister Mrs. C. W. (Alma) Bibb. Pallbearers were Harold Price, Laurence Clifton, James Spear, Bill Casey, Gaylord McDannold and Bill Harness.
