Mastin Moore

Note from Marilyn M., Submitter:
Here is an obituary for Mastin Moore, but I don't seem to have the name of the paper in which it was published. P. L. gave this to me in 1995, so maybe she has the name of the newspaper in question, if it is necessary to have. Although the wording of it, looks almost as if it could have come from a book, as it said "the subject of the sketch" which is so often used in bios. Marilyn

DIED:
On Thursday, Dec. 27th, 1888, of pneumonia, at his home in Hartford township, Mr. Mastin Moore, in his eighty first year. The subject of this sketch was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia in 1808. In 1819 he came with his parents to this county. Uncle Mastin, as he was called, was among the first settlers to this county. He was twice married; first to Miss Margaret Parsons, to whom several children were born, four of them surviving him-two daughters and two sons. He was last married to Miss Catherine Copenhaver, who was his companion until Dec. 10th, last, when the icy fingers of death closed her eyelids in slumber. Of this union one son was given to them. Uncle Mastin united with the Indian Creek Baptist Church in 1867, and was a humble follower of Christ up to his death. He bore his afflictions with Christian fortitude. His remains were interred in the family burying ground at his home. He leaves five children, one brother and two sisters, a number of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
