Lloyd B. Buchanan

Funeral services for Lloyd B. Buchanan, who died Saturday, were held Tuesday [May 26] afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Buchanan home and were conducted by the Rev. Everett Turner, pastor of the Baptist church.  Pallbearers were Kenneth Patton, E.G. Pledge, W. T. McElroy, Wendell Luke, Clarence Jenkins and Charles Chapman.  Honorary pallbearers were Dr. J. E Jaeger, F. B. Wigginton, A. L. Norton, J. Sam Pastgon, Jas. A. McDanheld, R. N. Bruce and P. C. Bopp of Kirkwood.  Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery where Rev. Turner made a brief prayer.  Lloyd Bryan Buchanan was born in Montgomery county, October 6, 1860, and was the son of William and Sarah Jane Buchanan.  He moved with his parents to the Dover neighborhood and united with the Dover Baptist church.  On Oct. 10, 1894, he married Miss Kate L. McConkey and they spent their entire married life in Clarksville where Mr. Buchanan was engaged in the buying and selling livestock.  He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Elizabeth, now Mrs. Boone Duncan of Louisiana, and a son, Francis Buchanan of Milan, MO, and three grandchildren, Mames Lloyd Duncan and Betty Lou Duncan of Louisiana and William Bryan Buchanan of Milan.  He also leaves a sister, Mrs. George Hudson of New Hartford.  A brother, Senator W. J. Buchanan of Eolia passed away several years ago.  He is also survived by an aunt, Mrs. G. W. Duncan of Middletown and several nieces and nephews.  Mr. Buchanan took an active part in church, civic and political affairs and possessed a forceful personality which made him outstanding as a leader in the community.  He was a loyal friend who will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to enjoy his friendship and will ever be remembered for his active participation in the worthwhile enterprises of the community and of Pike county.  Among the relatives who were here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Hudson, Ruby Hudson, Malcolm Hudson, Elade Hudson of New Hartford, Mr. and Mrs. George Duncan of Middletown, Mrs. Oore Buckley, Miss Elaine Smith of Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Mabry of Olney, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Ogden, Gwendolyn Ogden of Bowling Green.  Among the friends in attendance from elsewhere were [long list not included here].

L. B. Buchanan Dies After Long Illness
Funeral of Well Known Citizen Held Tuesday

L. B.; Buchanan died Saturday evening after a lingering illness, at the age of 76 years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence by the Rev. Everett Turner.

Mrs. H.C. Carroll and J.L. Green sang two hymns.

Lloyd Bryan Buchanan was born October 6, 1860, in Montgomery County and was the son of Wm. B. and Sarah Dugan Buchanan.

On October 10, 1894 he was married to Miss Kate L. McConkey and since their marriage they have resided here.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Boone Duncan of Louisiana, one son Francis W. Buchanan of Milan, Mo., three grandchildren, one sister Mrs. George Hudson of New Harford, Mo and other relatives.

The following relatives attended the funeral from out of town.  Mr. and Mrs. George Hudson and family of New Hartford, Mr. and Mrs. George Duncan of Middletown, Mrs. Lora Buckley and Miss Elaine Smith of Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Mabry of Olney, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ogden and daughter of Bowling Green, Mr. and Mrs. Moss Deering of Palmyra.
