Gates of Peace

This charming little Jewish cemetery is located on the north side of Business Hwy 54, less than 1/10th of a mile from the intersection of Business Highway 54 and Highway 54. It is fully enclosed in a wrought iron fence with only one entrance (seen above). The only Jewish cemetery in Pike County, Missouri, Gates of Peace was purchased in 1871, The earliest date of death found was 1873 and the most recent was 1980.

This is believed to be a complete listing of the stones in this cemetery. Only one stone was completely illegible, but four others had vital information written in Hebrew. As the photographer does not know Hebrew and the writing was light enough not to photograph well, the information from these stones is not known.
