Lucinda Effie [Buchanan] Scholl 

The funeral of Mrs. P.O. Scholl, was held Monday afternoon July 11th, from the Baptist church, a large assemblage of friends and relatives being present to pay tribute to her memory.  The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. T. J. Phillips, pastor of the church who paid a high tribute to her life and memory, after which her remains were tenderly laid away in the family ground at the cemetery.

Lucinda Effie Buchanan was born near Clarksville April 25, 1865, being the daughter of Wm and Sarah Dugan Buchanan, two of the pioneer families of Missouri.  Here her entire life was spent among kindred and friends.  On Dec 29, 1888, she was united in marriage to PO Scholl, their union being an ideal one of happiness, devotion and companionship.

She united with the Dover Baptist Church in 1884 under ministry of the Rev. J H Cook and from the time of entering the service of the Master, was a consistent, faithful and devoted Christian and worker in the Church and Missionary Society to whose up building and welfare she materially contributed.  She was also a member and officer of the Eastern Star in whose counsels she was a valued adviser and leader.  Of a forceful personality who stood for the right as whatever cost who unhesitatingly condemned the wrong and whose keen vision detected hypocrisy and scorned it, she stood in the community as an influence of the highest type and the best there is.  Of a kindly sympathetic nature ever ready to help when help was needed her loss will be felt in the desolated home and in the church and community and the circles in which she moved in the home as a devoted wife and loving companion and in the hearts of the many who loved her.  Her absence is sorely felt.  Besides her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. R. A Sidwell of Dover and Mrs. Geo. Hudson of Corso and two brothers, W J Buchanan of Eolia, and LB Buchanan of this city.

Many beautiful floral emblems contributed by loving friends with beautiful pieces from the church and Missionary Society, the Eastern Star, and the social club of which she was a charter member, expressed the esteem in which she was universally held and paid a silent tribute to her memory.

The pallbearers included CB Gilbert, JC Mackey, LH Edwares, GH Ferree, Jas. McHroy and AL Norton.
