Obit-Bro. Thomas J. Price was born in North Carolina February 13, 1818 and died December 25, 1905, 87 years, 10 months, 12 days. His father and mother, John & Annie Price moved to Pike Co., MO from North Carolina in 1819 and settled near Buffalo Church, where they raised a family of nine children, 4 boys and five girls. The father died in 1864 and the mother in 1873. Thomas was the 4th child in birth and the last in death. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Burks, November 11, 1841. She died in 1896, a married life of 55 years. They had a family of 13 children, 9 boys and 4 girls, 10 of whom are yet living. J. H. Price, J. K. Price S. R. Price, G. W. Price, C.C. Price, Mrs. Wm. Maddocks, Mrs. John D. Thurmon, all of Pike County, and C. S. Price of Sequel, CA. Rev. R. L. Price of Vanderbilt, PA & Mrs. John Green, Caney, KS. He had 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He lived a number of years on Noix Creek, also on the plain near Bowling Green and in the neighborhood of Concord Church. For the last seven years his home was with Mr. and Mrs. John Thurmon where he died. He had been in feeble health for several years. He professed religion and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Concord church about 50 years ago. He was a member at Providence when he died, where his funeral was preached to a large concourse of his old neighbors and friends. "Let me die the death right and my last end like him." The Price family was a prominent factor in moulding the industrial, political, educational and religious opinions in the early settlement of Pike Co. Judge Milas Price, a son of John & Annie Price moved in an early day into Montgomery county, and was one of the most honorable and valuable citizens of that county. He died about a year ago. The other boys lived and died in the Buffalo neighborhood and were most valuable citizens. All of them raised large families and families well respected. E. P. Pearson

James Thomas Price on December 25 1905 at the home of his son-in-law John Thurmond, near Bowling Green; J. T. Price closed his eyes to all earthly scenes and passed over to God's beautiful beyond. He was not sick, but frail and feeble from the weight of 88 years. He sought his couch as a tired child lies down to pleasant and sleeps that knows no awaking. While bright and cheerful he was piously inclined, living at peace with all mankind. He had been a consistent member of the Presbyterian church for a number of years and was beloved by a large number of sorrowing friends. His faithful wife preceded him to the grave many years ago while 10 children survive him, 3 daughters and 7 sons. J. H. Price of this vicinity being the oldest child. Funeral services were conducted Wed. at the home after which the remains were interred in the Smith burying ground. Peace to his ashes. (Clarksville Piker).
